About mycvscore
mycvscore.co.uk is a free CV checker for people applying for jobs in the UK. You upload or paste your CV, and in seconds you get a score out of 100, the biggest things holding it back, and a free rewrite of your weakest line.
Why it exists
Many CVs are held back by things that are easy to fix: layouts that scramble when software reads them, duties instead of results, missing numbers, or details in the wrong place. We built the checker to show you those things plainly, using published UK careers guidance. You can see the source for every check on How we score.
What we promise, and what we do not
- Your CV is read in your own browser. We do not download, upload or store it for the free check.
- The score is a guide to readability and quality. It is not a prediction of how any employer or system will treat your CV, and it does not guarantee interviews or job offers.
- We will not tell you to "beat the system". We show you how to make your CV clear, honest and easy to read.
The author: Stephen Reed
The guides on this site are written by Stephen Reed, founder of mycvscore.co.uk. Stephen holds a Diploma in Commerce from the University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia, and runs Blab Media Ltd.
Every guide lists the published UK sources it draws on, such as the National Careers Service, Prospects, Reed and employers' own guidance, so you can check each point for yourself. The guides are general information, not professional career advice, and we do not promise any outcome from following them.
